Motivational speaker Zig Ziglar once said, “Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.” As 2014 begins, how high is your attitude taking you? I consider myself to be a pretty positive person. Yet as I take inventory, I I realize I had let some toxic attitudes to enter into my psyche during the past year. Fear, regret, and grumbling about current circumstances had settled in. I had retreated into my head, overthinking every move, systematically cataloguing all the things that had gone wrong and could go wrong in the future as I thought about moving forward. Needless to say, my altitude was uncharacteristically, for me, low. But God is good! Through a series of seemingly random events I was reminded of the power within myself to accomplish my goals if I just believe in my ability to do so. I was reminded to rely on my faith that has carried me so far in the past and will do so again into the future. God said “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.”— Isaiah 41:10
So, I am back! I have decided to let go of the fear, regret and grumbling and to step out on faith to make some changes and finally achieve the goals I have been struggling with. Believing that I will be successful has already reaped some benefits – I have been able to recognize opportunities around me that I could not see when I was in my funk. Some of the challenges have fallen away or been resolved. I wake up renewed and determined to put plans into place. I am still a work in progress – there is a lot to do to get where I want to go. But I am now cultivating an attitude of courage and excitement.
Whether you find your inner strength from God, Jesus Christ, some other Higher Power, the love and support of those around you, or another source, find your inner strength. There is no challenge out there that cannot be overcome – but you have to take action!. Belief in yourself and y our inner strength opens you up to new ideas and pathways through the wilderness of life, allows you to withstand the storms, and gives you the strength and peace to persevere.
I wish you and you’re a happy, healthy, prosperous, and blessed 2014.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13.
