On My Mind...Focus

There is an ad playing on TV these days in which a guy asks a group of kids if it is better to do one thing at a time or two. All the kids yell, “TWO!”

I beg to differ. This fascination with being able to multitask often means we do not fully immerse ourselves in what we are doing. Nothing gets our full attention. We lose the joy and passion of living in the moment.

Certainly, following a brain injury, it becomes noticeably more difficult to focus on more than one thing at a time, and a part of the recovery process often involves simplifying your life, prioritizing, focusing more intently on what is really important. Isn’t that a lesson for all of us?
